Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a very gentle hands-on therapy which assists the body’s capacity for self-repair. It works directly on the central nervous system, helping every other system in the body to relax and self-regulate. The client lies fully clothed on a treatment bed and the Craniosacral therapist gently moves his hands and arranges the client into specific positions, thereby restoring the natural position of the bones, releasing any compression in areas and alleviating stress and pain.

CST can assist with the treatment of the following:

  • Alzheimer's disease

  • autism

  • back pain

  • brain injury

  • central nervous system disorders

  • chronic fatigue

  • colic

  • concussion

  • dementia

  • fibromyalgia

  • immune disorders

  • learning disabilities

  • migraines

  • neck pain

  • post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • scoliosis

  • spinal cord injury

  • stress

Why I studied CST

My story

Headshot Ian Waddell.jpg

In 2016 I ended up with a very painful back injury. I saw many specialists, none of them were able to assist me or bring any relief from the debilitating pain. After many months of seeking help unsuccessfully, I became desperate and started exploring alternative therapies, one of which was CST. After only two sessions, I felt some pain relief. I persisted with ongoing sessions, combined with regular specialised Feldenkrais stretching technique, always progressing, and eventually recovered fully from my back injury. I was fascinated that such a gentle, non-invasive therapy could be so powerful and I knew that I needed to study CST.

"Ian is extremely professional in his practice and each session of craniosacral therapy that I had was well managed from start to finish.  I felt very comfortable throughout the process, comfortable enough to allow my body to relax into a meditative state during the sessions. Having 3 sessions of craniosacral therapy with Ian resulted in significantly improved shoulder and back mobility through reduced pain in both areas.  Ian’s added knowledge of kinesiology helped address non physical aspects during the craniosacral therapy, especially factors associated with emotional stresses. I highly recommend Ian"
